Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible.

operaESTrema is an interdisciplinary concept created by Aaron Carpenè and Stefano Vizioli, music and stage director respectively, promoting the sharing and exchange of performative expressions.
operaESTrema combines song, movement, theatre, costume and music from nations across the globe with an outstanding traditional performance culture.
Handel’s Acis and Galatea in the heart of the Himalayas in Bhutan, integrating traditional dance, theatre and song; Monteverdi’s Orfeo in Kamakura, the seat of the Samurai culture in Japan; Mozart’s Magic Flute amongst the mysterious temples of Angkor in Cambodia and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas imagined in China… Each one of these projects interconnects the profundity of human thought through theatre, music and cultural traditions in conjunction with Western opera.
operaESTrema touches spheres of unexplored spirituality and poetry, contemplating the sacred in the performing arts but not ignoring the entertainment and the empowerment, through sound, colour and personal contact that respects individual identities but celebrates our one common existence as human beings.
